Our weekly homework assignments will almost always include the following:
- Reading: 30 minutes of nightly reading. Students will have a reading log to fill out and show Mrs. C each morning. This reading does not have to be silent reading. I encourage students to read to their parents while they are cooking dinner, or washing dishes as well as reading to their siblings.
- ELA: practice pages. These practice pages will usually be dated Monday-Thursday. The completed page will be due on Friday. We will check in class together.
- Math: practice pages. These practice pages will usually be dated Monday-Thursday. The completed page will be due on Friday. We will check in class together.
- Spelling: Each week we will study a new unit. Students will copy the words down on Monday so that they can study each night. On Friday we will have a Spelling test. Spelling tests may also be in the form of vocabulary, matching, and/or editing misspelled words in a passage.
- Writing: When we get closer to our Writing TAKS date, we will have writing homework in the form of a composition. Students will be responsible for pre-writing, a rough draft, editing, and a final copy which will all be due on a given date.
- Book reports: A letter will be sent home in September about book reports, due dates, and the Texas Readers Club.
